How To Judge The Quality Of Copper Busbar?

Copper busbar is a conductive material for electrical engineering such as high and low voltage electrical equipment, switch contacts, etc. Compared to cable cables, copper busbar has better dynamic and thermal stability. Even so, there are different manufacturers producing copper busbars on the market. So, how do we judge the quality of copper busbars when choosing them?


1. Materials

The higher the purity of copper busbar, the better its metal conductivity. T2 copper has fewer impurities and higher purity compared to other copper materials, and has superior wear resistance and ductility. The copper busbars produced by YIPU Metal adopt T2 copper and PVC insulation, which has good insulation and voltage resistance.


2. Structure

In order to pursue a compact structure of the copper busbar, some enterprises will punch some small hole structures on the copper busbar, which can allow bolts to pass through the fixed busbar. If a large number of perforations are made on the copper busbar, the conductivity of the copper busbar will greatly decrease.


3. Processing method

Ordinary conductive copper busbar is obtained by electrolysis method, and if it is a cold working process, it needs to be tempered.


4. Copper busbar thickness

The early requirements for copper busbar were 8mm~10mm, although with the advancement of science and technology, a slight reduction in cross-sectional area can still meet basic needs. If the thickness of the copper busbar is less than 3mm, it is easy to cause short circuits or explosions during use due to temperature rise.


5. Coating thickness

Copper busbars usually require coating treatment to increase their conductivity and corrosion resistance. If flash plating is used for surface treatment, designing the thickness of the silver plating layer to be less than 0.6 micrometers and the thickness of the tin plating layer to be less than 3 micrometers is not conducive to improving the corrosion resistance of the busbar.


6. Measurement of resistance and bending test results

This is the safest method of judgment. The resistivity of copper busbar is generally not greater than 0.01777, and the density should be ≥ 8.95g/cm2. T2 products are used, and the copper content is ≥ 99.90%. Bend the product 90 ° to observe whether there are cracks on the surface, whether there are peeling, slag, bubbles, and other phenomena.
