The function of copper foil flexible connection and copper tape soft connection is actually the same. As the soft connection between electrical equipment, they are used in the connection between transformer installation, high and low voltage switchgear, vacuum electrical equipment, enclosed bus duct, generator and bus, rectifier equipment, smelting equipment, rectifier and isolating switch. In recent years, it is also commonly used in aviation, rail transit and new energy industries.
But why do some choose copper foil flexible connection and some choose copper tape flexible connection? What is the difference between them?
The copper foil soft connection is made of a single piece of red copper foil with a thickness of 0.03-0.3mm, and the two ends are welded and pressed at high temperature. The copper foil can only move up and down in the process of use, which has high requirements on the installation position and has great limitations.
The copper tape flexible connection is made of copper braided tape or copper stranded wire. After the joint is crimped, it can rotate 360 degrees, and there is no restriction on the installation angle. Generally, copper braided wire is recommended to be used for soft connection of small current or wide installation location. For large current copper soft connection with current carrying capacity greater than 1500A, it is generally recommended to use stranded wire to ensure the flexibility of the product and increase the installation flexibility of the product. For electrical rooms with small installation spacing, we also recommend to use copper stranded wire for soft connection.
